Choreography Program Description
This class is designed for students who want to learn the principles and processes behind dance composition. Each week will focus on different choreographic tools, themes, and movement styles. In addition to creating choreography, students will experiment in improvision and partnering. Students will have the opportunity to develop dances and perform them for an audience. This class is ideal for any student wishing to explore artistic expression through dance. Intermediate and advanced dancers only.  |  Must be taking a minimum of two level 3+ classes a week in addition to choreography.

Official Dress Code for Choreography Classes
Female:
For these classes, we will measure and order students a black tank leotard ($20/$24) and black leggings ($25/$28) to be worn during all Watch-Week Classes and during the Winter Recital.
Male: For these classes, we will measure and order students a black short-sleeved T-Shirt ($25/$28) and black dance pants ($28/$35). Students must also have Black Jazz Shoes, thin black cotton socks short, brief undershorts for younger ages, or a dancer’s belt starting at age 10.

  • Appropriate Shoes: Shoes are dependent on what the class focus is.

  • Hair: Pulled up away from the face.

  • Choreography Journal: A notebook needs to be brought to each class to capture concepts or ideas that are being explored.
