6-Week Sessions of Different Art Forms

Peak is exploring….a variety of different types of arts in 6-Week Blocks. We are excited to have you join us on this journey.
Session 1: Monday - September 7th through Sunday - October 18th
Session 2: Monday - October 19th through Sunday - December 20th (There will be a two weeks of flexibility which will allow teachers to create schedules that work for Thanksgiving and other holidays.)

Intuitive Art:
Teens-Adults, 60 Minutes, Mondays 6:00-7:00pm, Sep. 7th-Oct. 18th, Class Cost: $100, Materials: Please see below.
Artists are invited to join in an internalized exploration focused intently on the healing experience of self-expression in a safe and loving space. This practice will include a variety of different projects and materials and is open to all. The only requirement for participation is the willingness to set judgment aside and engage clearly with one’s curiosity and intuition. This practice pairs a guided meditation with an art-making experience.
What you will need:
Students are required to bring their own paints, watercolor paper and brushes. Instructor will provide additional brushes, water cups and paper towels.

Intro to Machine Sewing:
Teens-Adults, 60 Minutes, Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm, Sep. 7th-Oct. 18th, Class Cost: $75, Materials: $25
In this class students will learn how to operate their sewing machine to complete simple fabric based projects. Topics will include basic machine operation and trouble shooting, the basics of fabric types and selection, straight and zig-zag stitches, creating hidden seams, and edge finishing. Projects include pocket scarf, beanie hat, cloud pillow, and draw string backpack. Students are required to bring their own sewing machine in good working order. Subsequent levels include intermediate sewing (following a pattern for garment construction) Intermediate Sewing (mending and alterations) Advanced sewing (topics determined by students).  
What you will need:
Students are required to bring their own sewing machine in good working order. Novelty fleece min- 44x18 (1/2 yard) , novelty fleece min-44x18 (1/2 yard) can be the same as other fleece for a total of 1 yard. Novelty cotton quilting fabric-min 44x18 (1/2 yard), cotton broadcloth, canvas, or bottom weight fabric - min 44x18 1/2 yard. Matching thread for all. 12 oz bag of poly -fill. Students are also welcome to purchase their own supplies, no supplies needed for first class and detailed list will be given.

Intro To Leather Crafting
Middle-School-Adults, 60 Minutes, Thursdays 6:00-7:00pm, Sep. 7th-Oct. 18th, Class Cost: $75, Materials: $35
In this class students will learn all about leather as a material as well as basic skills to make simple projects. Projects and skills include Flower accessory (hair clips or earrings) to learn punching holes and setting rivets, Card wallet to learn stitching, bracelet or key fob to learn tooling (stamping) and dyeing, and a small pouch that incorporates all of these skills.
What you will need:
Supplies for this class include precut leather blanks for all projects, hardware, and thread. Cost is $35 per student. All tools and equipment needed will be provided by instructor for use during class.

Intro To Loom Knitting
Middle-School-Adults, 60 Minutes, Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm, Oct. 19th-Dec. 20th, Class Cost: $75, Materials: Please See Below.
In this class students will learn the basics of loom knitting and make simple projects. Skills include casting on, e-wrap (knit) stitch, pearl stitch, increases, decreases, and casting off. Projects include basic beanie hat, embellished beanie hat, a dish scrubby, and a basic double knit scarf.
What you will need:
Students will need a 9 -11 inch inch diameter round loom, and a 7-9 inch long oblong loom, yarn hook, yarn needle, 150-200 yards of bulky (size 5) yarn per hat, 250-300 yards of bulky (size 5 yarn) for the scarf, and 1 small skein of scrubby yarn. Looms can be found for $5-$10 each, possibly less if sourced 2nd hand. Prices vary widely for yarn. Students can bring their own supplies or purchase a kit.

Intro To Crochet
Middle-School-Adults, 60 Minutes, Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm, Oct. 19th-Dec. 20th, Class Cost: $75, Materials: Please See Below.
In this class students will learn the basics of crochet and make simple projects. Crocheting in the round, and in rows will be covered. Basic stitches such as chain, magic circle, single, double, half double, and triple crochet will be taught as well as the notation for these stitches and how to read written crochet patterns. Projects include a set of 4 coasters, a head band, a scarf, and a stuffed toy.
What you will need:
Students will need a 5.5mm-6.5mm crochet hook, a 8mm-11.5mm hook, and a yarn needle. 250-300 yards of bulky yarn (size5) for scarf, 100 yards medium/ worsted yarn (size 4) for coasters, 50-75 yards of bulk (5) or medium (4) yarn for head band, and 100 yards of medium (size 4) yarn for stuffed toy (can also use leftover yarn in multiple colors for head band and toy) Hooks are $1-$3 each and the cost of yarn can vary widely. Students can bring their own supplies or purchase a kit.
